BOARD, COMMISSION, COMMITTEE RECRUITMENT

City Board, Commission, and Committee recruitment is underway for 18 open seats and the deadline to apply is March 17. Most boards do not have enough applications yet, and the community is encouraged to apply.

2024 KING ARTIST RESIDENCY PRESENTATIONS

Four finalists for the 2024 King Artist Residency will give presentations of their previous work and a conceptual proposal on Thursday, March 7, 9:30 a.m. — noon.

Watch their presentations and participate in a Q & A session or give written feedback to the selection panel to support their decision-making process.

The selected artist or team will engage the community in conversations focused on equity, inclusion, and belonging in Palo Alto, resulting in an artwork on King Plaza.

STATE OF THE CITY 2024

Join the Mayor and community at this year’s State of the City address on Wednesday, March 20 at 6 p.m.

This year’s event will be hosted at the Palo Alto Art Center, 1313 Newell Road and live streamed on YouTube.

After the Mayor’s address everyone is invited to stay to connect as a community over light refreshments. Registration to join in-person is recommended.

City Council Actions on March 4

Council Actions

Tower Well Park: Adopted a Park Dedication Ordinance, approved the name “Tower Well Park,” and referred the Historic Resources Board and Parks and Recreation Commission to consider naming it “Fredrick Eyerly Tower Well” and adding it to the California National Historic Registry.

Ellsworth Place: Amended to restore the sight triangle specified in December 2023 and adopted the draft ordinances to rezone 2901–2905 Middlefield Road and 702 Ellsworth Place with amendments.

City Council Priority Objectives: Council heard the staff presentation and public comment and moved the agenda item for action only to the March 11 meeting.
