Construction Updates

  • Caltrans continues conducting preparation construction on northbound El Camino Real as part of its Rehabilitation Pavement Project, addressing sidewalk and curb ramps.
  • Notable milestone for the Charleston/Arastradero project, the El Camino Real intersection paving is now complete, leaving the traffic signal at Wilkie as the last remaining work. *Hats off to the City’s Public Works team for this accomplishment.
  • The City’s sewer pipeline project continues to be ahead of schedule, with the construction on El Camino Real complete and the remaining work on Page Mill Road (near El Camino Real) anticipated to be complete by May.

Volunteer on the Historic Resources Board

Following the annual board, commission, and committee recruitment this winter, to fill all vacant seats, the Historic Resources Board (HRB) needs additional applicants. Ideal for those interested in historic property, design, and architecture, the HRB is tasked with identifying properties for the Historic Building Inventory. They make recommendations to the Architectural Review Board and are part of the process in envisioning the aesthetic look of the City.

Deadline to apply is May 5.

Palo Alto Earth Day Festival

This coming Sunday, April 21 the City is celebrating sustainability and climate action for Earth Day. Join the fun at Rinconada Library plaza from 1–4 p.m. and connect with neighbors, family, and friends. There will be a range of activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Council Actions

Revised 2023–2031 Housing Element: City Council adopted the Revised 2023–31 Housing Element and directed staff to add a new program to include prior Council-assigned policy work extending the Housing Focus Area at strategic locations along El Camino Real and to reexamine the accuracy of reported housing data for conditions east of Bayshore Road and adjust as appropriate without delaying resubmittal to HCD.
