PANDEMIC RESPONSE AND RECOVERY

COVID-19 Update

While cases are lower in children than adults, they can still get sick from and spread COVID-19. The CDC issued a new Pediatric Dashboard to track and map cases in children ages 0–17. Go to bit.ly/CDTped to browse the new dashboard and read more.

Everyone over 12 years old is eligible to be vaccinated for free. Visit sccfreevax.org to schedule your appointment to get vaccinated, or talk with your current healthcare provider.

Free COVID-19 testing continues in Palo Alto.

  • Tuesdays at Mitchell Park Library parking lot
  • Wednesdays at City Hall
  • County administered testing on September 16 & 30 and October 14 & 28 at the Cubberley Pavilion

TOGETHER AGAIN PALO ALTO — A WEEK-LONG SERIES OF EVENTS TO CONNECT AS A COMMUNITY

Join us this week to celebrate being together again with a series of fun events through Saturday, September 18. Events range from live music on California and University Avenues, discounts for Stanford athletics, the Moonlight Run, and more!

Lawn signs can be picked up at Cubberley, Lucie Stern, and Mitchell Community Centers, and each library. For more information about the events and picking up a lawn sign, visit cityofpaloalto.org/togetheragain. Hope to see you out there!

CALIFORNIA GUBERNATORIAL ELECTION*

*Updated since Monday’s Council meeting.

The California Gubernatorial Recall Election was held this past Tuesday, September 14, 2021.

Governor Newsom was voted to remain in office with an overwhelming majority of Californian’s voting no on the recall. For election results, maps and other election data, go here.

You can track your ballot, register to vote, or get answers to questions by visit the County Registrar of Voter’s office.

THE ANNUAL COASTAL CLEANUP DAY IS SATURDAY!

Join us for the annual Coastal Cleanup Day this Saturday, September 18 from 9 a.m. to noon. The City is hosting in-person clean up sites at Matadero and Adobe Creeks and will help provide trash bags, gloves, and litter sticks.

You can also choose to pick up trash independently in your own neighborhood. If you choose to host your own cleanup and would like assistance with supplies, be sure to select that option when registering. For more information and to sign up visit cleanacreek.org.

UPLIFT LOCAL COMMUNITY MEETING*

Staff and the community came together for an informal check-in meeting to provide feedback on the Uplift Local program.

The Zoom webinar was held on Tuesday, September 14.

THE ART OF DISABILITY CULTURE

Join the Palo Alto Art Center on Friday, September 17 from 6 p.m.–8 p.m. virtually or in-person for “Friday Night at the Art Center.” You can experience a new exhibit called the Art of Disability Culture, meet the artists, participate in hands-on art activities, listen to a performance by a spoken word artist, and partake in an inclusive movement activity.
